About JA in India
JA (Junior Achievement) in India is dedicated to educating students in the areas of work readiness, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship. We work with Indian corporations, foundations, and government agencies to inspire and prepare Indian youth to succeed in business and in life. JA students emerge with the skills needed for work, trade school, or university; the financial acumen to manage their finances; and the network and mindset to start their own small businesses.
Founded in 2006, JA India has served more than 500,000 students with the support of over 1,000 volunteers. In 2017, JA Worldwide formed a partnership with The Global Education & Leadership Foundation (tGELF) in a mutual endeavor to innovate and revolutionize the global education space together and fulfil their missions through shared technology and scale. JA Worldwide and tGELF have aligned their efforts to reach more youth to become entrepreneurial leaders who are ethical, inclusive, and altruistic.
JA India is supported by the JA Asia Pacific regional operating center, which oversees the activities of JA in the Asia Pacific region, an area that is home to 60 percent of the world’s youth. JA Asia Pacific is dedicated to enabling and empowering young people to benefit from the region’s economic development and create a positive impact in their lives and communities. The 17-member JA Asia Pacific network is powered by over 30,000 volunteers and mentors from all sectors of society.
The Global Education & Leadership Foundation (tGELF), founded in 2006, is a programme initiative of The Nand & Jeet Khemka Foundation. tGELF’s vision is to nurture young, ethical leaders to be agents of change. We believe that the world needs to redefine great leadership to encompass critical values that are key to meeting the challenges of the 21st century head-on. Great leadership is not about money, power, or fame, but rather a deep sense of ethics, altruism, and strong leadership capabilities, including a bias for action.
JA Worldwide and tGELF formed a partnership in November 2017 to bring scale and sustainability to both organisations. We collectively aim to bring tGELF programmes and JA programmes to impact a greater number of young people globally.
